About the Speaker: Laia Romero is isardSAT Group Director of Operations and Strategy. She is responsible for the Earth Observation Services Business Unit, Lobelia Earth. Her work focuses on satellite data for climate action.

Over the last 13 years she has worked extensively in Earth Observation with radar technologies, in the development of applications, deployment and execution of environmental services for governments and private sector. She has contributed as a research scientist and manager to several new satellite mission studies.

Before joining isardSAT, Laia was Director of New Business and Innovation at Altamira Information (CLS Group), where she managed the division of R&D and Data Management Solutions. Prior to that, she managed the launch of the data management solutions team in her role as Operational Oceanography and Information Systems Manager also for CLS group. Earlier in her career, Laia worked as Key Account Manager in the EO Services business for Starlab, where she was also a researcher and project manager.

Fluent in English, Catalan and Spanish, and with a good knowledge of French, Laia holds a BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography with honours by Fairleigh Dickinson University (New Jersey, USA), where she was an assistant in the Natural Science Research Group, and a MSc in Research in Physical Oceanography by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. She has solid experience in technical project management and coordination of projects for the European Space Agency and the European Commission in the area of Space Technologies & Applications.
